Sinochem set foot in oil refining since late 1980s. At present, the three refineries we have invested have a combined refining capacity of nearly 25 million tons per annum.
The Quanzhou refining project which is invested by Sinochem Group, with a capacity of 12 million per annum, located at the Huiquan Petrochemical Industrial Park of Quanzhou, Fujian Province, was selected to be one of the key projects in the National Refining Plan during the "12th Five-year Plan" period. Sinochem Quanzhou’s 12 million MT/ a refining project is located in Quanhui Petrochemical Industrial Park of Quanzhou city, Fujian province. It is listed among the key projects constructed and in operation during the “Twelfth Five Years Planning” period for China’s oil industry. The project is designed to produce high quality gasoline (Europe V standard), diesel (Europe V standard), kerosene, BTX, polypropylene and sulfur. Upon its completion, it will rank among the most competitive refineries in the Chinese market. The Quanzhou project will further improve China’s energy industry landscape, and propel the economic growth of West Taiwan Strait Economic District. It will also further complete Sinochem’s oil industrial chain and strengthen the company’s market presence. In the future, the project will be built into a world-class integrated refinery base with an annual processing capacity of 30 million tons of curde oil.
Sinomchem Group remains the largest shareholder of West Pacific Petrochemical Co., Ltd. (WEPEC), China’s first sino-foreign joint venture refinery. WEPEC has a crude oil processing capacity of 10 million MT/a, and is installed with a 10 million MT/a atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit, a 3 million MT/a heavy oil catalytic cracking unit, a 2 million MT/a heavy oil hydrogenation and desulphurization unit, a 2 million MT/a diesel hydra-treating unit, a 1.5 million MT/a hydrogen cracking unit and a 100,000 MT/a sulfur recovery unit.
