Sinochem Group Attended the 5th MCLR, President Liu Deshu was Awarded “International Investment Strategist”

On June 22nd and 23rd, the 5th Multinational Corporations Leaders Roundtable (MCLR), co-sponsored by the China International Council for the Promotion of Multinational Corporations (CICPMC), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and other institutions, was held in Beijing. Mr. Jia Qinglin, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) attended the opening ceremony and gave the keynote speech.

At the conference, Sinochem Group President Liu Deshu, as well as other leaders of multinational corporations, was awarded with the “Award of International Investment Strategist” and Sinochem Group among others was cited as the “Top 50 Chinese Corporations in Foreign Investment”. Sinochem Group Vice President Du Keping also attended the conference and made a speech entitled “Harmonious Coexistence, Integration and Mutual Benefits,” in which he explained Sinochem Group’s experience as one of the earliest businesses to  “Go Global” in the realm of corporate social responsibility. In addition, Mr. Du Keping discussed with executives of other multinational corporations the topic of how to promote green and healthy development of society, as well as other issues.

Other dignitaries present at the conference included relevant directors from the National People’s Congress (NPC), the CPPCC, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Health, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) and the State Administration for Industry & Commerce (SAIC), as well as representatives from Top 500 enterprises and various foreign embassies and commerce chambers in China.

The conference was themed “Promote Multinational Corporations’ investment, Strengthen Corporate Social Responsibility and Facilitate Sustainable Development,” and aimed to cement exchanges and cooperation among Chinese and foreign multinational corporations, implement China’s international development strategies of “Bring into China” and “outgoing Global.” Another goal was to construct a dialogue mechanism between Chinese and foreign enterprises and between enterprises and governments. Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations, sent his congratulations upon the holding of the conference.
